Modern combustion engines show decreasing emissions but still emit particulate matter with a wide range of particle sizes. Therefore tighter PM emission standards will be introduced in Europe, United States and Japan for both passenger cars and heavy commercial vehicles. To meet these regulations and to overcome the health concerns relating to soot, particulate filters are considered as a viable measure to minimise soot emission.
For cleaning the particulate emissions of combustion engines, NGK has developed Particulate Filters based on ceramic substrate technology.
The Particulate Filter has demonstrated impressive characteristics:
- Excellent filtration efficiency.
- Excellent thermal shock resistance.
- Low weight characteristics.
